Grell Audio OAE2

Designed by the man behind some of the most iconic headphones ever

The Grell OAE2 was developed by legendary German audio engineer Axel Grell. During his more than 30-year career at Sennheiser, he was responsible for some of the most acclaimed headphones in the audio world, including the HD 580, HD 600, HD 650, HD 800, and even the flagship HE 1. With the OAE2, Grell brings his years of experience together in a new open-back headphone designed to reproduce music as naturally and spatially as possible.

A listening experience inspired by loudspeakers

Whereas many headphones make music sound primarily “inside the head,” the OAE2 was developed around a unique front-oriented acoustic design. The position of the drivers and their interaction with the outer ear create a more natural soundstage with greater depth, spaciousness, and a presentation that comes closer to listening to high-quality speakers.

High-Quality Technology and Craftsmanship

The OAE2 utilizes a specially developed 40 mm dynamic driver with a bio-cellulose diaphragm, combined with a carefully tuned acoustic design. The result is a balanced sound with natural midrange reproduction, controlled bass response, and refined detail. The headphones also feature a fully modular design, a robust metal frame, and are built to provide years of listening pleasure.

Comfort for Long Listening Sessions

Thanks to its open-back design, soft velour ear pads, and wide memory-foam headband cushion, the OAE2 offers a high level of comfort, even during longer listening sessions. The headphones come with both a 3.5 mm and a balanced 4.4 mm cable, making them immediately ready for use in a wide variety of Hi-Fi setups.

For the true audiophile

With the OAE2, Axel Grell translates the knowledge and experience he gained while developing some of the most beloved headphones ever into a modern design. The result is an open-back headphone that stands out for its natural sound, spacious soundstage, and uncompromising focus on musicality.
