iFi Audio iDSD GR 2 MT

The iFi Audio iDSD GR 2 MT is a special Master Tuned version of the iDSD GR 2, developed in collaboration with Grammy and Brit Award-winning producer Steve Levine. The GR 2’s basic architecture remains intact, but various components and the final sound tuning have been further refined. Two exclusive digital filters have also been added—one for PCM and one for DSD—which were developed specifically for this edition in collaboration with Steve Levine.

Burr-Brown PCM1795 and fully balanced amplification

At the heart of the system is the Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC, a current-output design with true 32-bit resolution. This DAC gives iFi greater freedom in designing the analog output stage and supports high-resolution audio up to PCM 768 kHz and DSD512. The amplifier circuit uses Class A op-amps and is fully balanced from the DAC to the output. For the MT version, audiophile-grade precision resistors and Audio Note Kaisei capacitors, among other components, have been used to further refine the channel balance, quietness, and character of the midrange.

Up to 1,513 mW of headphone power

Despite its compact and portable size, the iDSD GR 2 MT delivers up to 1,513 mW RMS into 32 ohms via the balanced 4.4 mm output. This provides ample power for both sensitive IEMs and much more demanding headphones. The updated iEMatch circuit with low-impedance MOSFETs also allows for better optimization of the output for highly sensitive in-ear monitors. In addition to the 4.4mm balanced output, a 3.5mm S-Balanced headphone output is included.

K2HD and aptX Lossless wireless

The iDSD GR 2 MT features JVCKENWOOD K2HD Technology, which reconstructs harmonic information that can be lost during digitization. For a more subtle sound, a K2 mode without upsampling is also available. Wireless playback is supported via Bluetooth 5.4, including aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC/HWA, AAC, and SBC. aptX Lossless supports wireless transmission at CD quality up to 16-bit/44.1 kHz.

OLED Touchscreen and Extensive Connectivity Options

The color OLED display with a capacitive touchscreen provides direct access to the most important settings. In terms of connectivity, the GR 2 MT is exceptionally versatile, featuring USB-C, optical/coaxial S/PDIF, Bluetooth, and both 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended analog inputs and outputs. This allows it to be used on the go as a portable DAC/headphone amplifier, but just as easily as a DAC or preamplifier within a desktop audio system.

Portable and suitable for desktop use

The built-in 4,900mAh battery provides approximately seven hours of playback time. When connected to a USB power source, the hybrid power mode prioritizes the external power supply and only engages the battery when additional power is needed. This reduces unnecessary charging cycles during extended desktop use. Additionally, extensive settings and over-the-air updates are available via iFi Nexis.
